Training That Help You Leap Higher

People involved in sports, particularly basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball, are often interested in finding ways to improve their vertical leap. There are many exercises and programs available that are specially intended for improving a person’s jumping ability. Before starting any of these programs though, you should at least be in good general physical shape. Here we go over a few exercises that someone could start with before starting a training program. These will help get you started.

Warm Ups
Prior to beginning any exercises, you should warm your muscles up. Jog around for ten minutes or run up and down s few sets of stairs. It is also a good idea to stretch your muscles prior to beginning your exercises. Warming up prior to doing exercises helps you improve muscle fibers that are used for jumping.

Skipping Rope
Skipping rope is an exercise that should not be overlooked, as it will contribute to increasing the strength of your legs. It also promotes maintaining excellent overall physical condition. Perform this exercise for fifteen to thirty minutes regularly.

Knee Raises
Grab an overhead bar firmly, with your arms straight overhead. Hang from the overhead bar, with your arms fully extended and knees slightly bent. Hold this position and slowly raise your knees towards your chest. Squeeze your stomach muscles during this process. Maintain this position for a few seconds, before lowering your legs back down. Repeat the process five times.

Knee Bends
One of the top exercises to increase your leg strength is with knee bends (also called squats). Stand upright – straight, with chest out and keeping your back tight. Now, bend your knees slowly, keeping the back straight. Crouch, in a slow motion, as far down as possible. Repeat this exercise 20 times.

Toe Touches
Stand upright. Bend from the waist while keeping your knees locked. Lower yourself down as far as you can go and try to touch your toes with your fingers. Hold this position for a couple seconds. This exercise should be done slowly and do not “bounce” while trying to reach your toes. Repeat this 30 times.

Sit-Ups
Sit-ups can help improve your vertical leap. Begin this exercise laying with your back against the floor, with your knees bent, and your feet flat on the floor. Place you hands behind your head. Now, curl the shoulders off the floor, in a slow movement. Continue to sit up. Do not “pull” on the back of your head with your hands. Concentrate on your stomach doing the work. Exercises for your waist are important for all physical activity as it is the “core” area of your body. Repeat this 10-20 times.

Programs that have plyo and weight workouts produce better results. If a product doesn’t have these things, there is no way it can help you get the optimal results. Plyometrics is all about explosive movements, which is something you will need to give you the ultimate results.

All athletes needs are different, and what might work for you probably wouldn’t work for someone else. Player Haters – The Rivalry Of Liverpool and Man U

Rivalries exist throughout the sporting world, sometimes bringing out the best in competitors…and sometimes the worst.

Think about some of the biggest sporting rivalries in history.There was Muhammad Ali going toe-to-toe with Joe Frazier in the boxing ring, Martina Navratilova facing off with Chris Evert on the tennis court and Nick Faldo going head to head with Greg Norman on the golf course.There’s still a healthy rivalry in cricket between India and Pakistan.  There’s even been a classic rivalry in the world of chess with Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov battling it out in several matches over the years.

But can any of these admittedly classic face-offs hold a candle to the colossal confrontation that occurs whenever the Red Devils of Manchester United clash with the Liverpool Reds?This could be the greatest rivalry in football, but it’s time to take a closer look at things to determine why it exists, and why it continues

1. The Northwest Derby – Matchups between the two clubs are often referred to using this moniker.  Liverpool and Manchester (the cities) have maintained a healthy competition since industrial times, and that sense of one-upmanship has apparently spilled over into the football world.

2. “The Greatest English Football Club” – Manchester United and Liverpool both lay claim to the title of The Greatest English Football Club.  A similar number of trophies have been won by each club, and they are also the two most successful English teams in European competition.

3. Fans and Money – The two clubs are widely-supported throughout the world and boast some of the most devoted fans in any sport.  They also are two of the biggest earning clubs in the world.

4.  Player Haters – As with a lot of football clubs, the fans can be downright hostile to each other sometimes.  With Liverpool and Man U, though, the hostility spills over to the players too occasionally.  United striker Wayne Rooney has publicly stated how he grew up hating Liverpool.On another occasion, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard told a TV crew that, although he often exchanges shirts with opposing players, he would never have a Manchester United shirt in his house.

5. Transfers? What Transfers? – Since 1964, no player has been directly transferred between the two clubs; the few who have played for both sides always played for a different city’s club in between. As recently as 2007, United left-back Gabriel Heinze expressed a desire to move to Liverpool, and a bid was made, but Man U rejected the bid and stated that Heinze would only join a foreign club if he chose to leave – all due to the age old rivalry.

Coach Youth Soccer: Want To Know The Training Drills

Let this be known! To coach youth soccer, it is a challenge to be creative and come up with innovative tips and techniques to train the kids. The biggest challenge in teaching soccer is being creative enough to come up with great ideas so that the interest of the kids is sustained in the game.

Here are some exercises that you can teach youth soccer players. These help them play the game well and have fun at the same time.

Get the kids going with dribbling and shooting: This is a simple drill that involves all the players at the same time. Make the players stand on a single goal line. Now, spread the balls all over the soccer field. Then, make the kids move with the ball as if they are attacking the opponent’s goal. They should also shoot the ball as soon as they have an opportunity.

This workout helps the kids build their stamina, confidence and also improves their dribbling skills. As the kids do not face any opposition while moving forward, it reflects their style of playing soccer.

Coaching Youth Soccer

Understanding to pass the ball: Instruct the players to make a line at a distant corner of the field. Start counting till 3 and when you finish, order them to run to you as fast as they can. While they are running towards you, they also need to steal the ball from the other player who is kicking the ball. When you shout stop, the ball must be passed by the player who has it to someone else.

In order to coach youth soccer, these games help the kids display their abilities in passing and dribbling. This way, the players also learn a very important skill of snatching the ball from other players.

Touch and Go: It’s a very interesting game which kids love to play. It requires the kids to stand in two rows under 40 meters away from the position of the goal. Besides, the goalpost should be defended by the goalie. Position yourself anywhere amongst the two lines.

Now pass the ball to one of the queues and instruct them to shoot or pass the ball using only one touch. The purpose must be to convert it into a goal. The goalkeeper must then return the ball and the practice continues.

When you’ve got two or more goalkeepers in team, make sure you keep include them in alternating sessions. This game has the dual benefit of instilling team spirit and bettering the shooting skills. The goalie also gets to learn the art of keeping the ball away from goalpost.

Retaining the possession of the ball: This drill helps the players learn to move forward with the ball saving it from opponents. Engage two players, one protecting the ball and the other attacking it. Guide them to play their respective roles and win points every time any player wins over the other.
